Linear Gate Installation in Agoura Hills: What to Know First

We install, repair, and replace Linear gate operators for driveway gates, pedestrian gates, swing gates, sliding gates, and double gates throughout Agoura Hills. Most Linear installations take us four to six hours on site, and the price is written and handed to you before any work starts. We’re an independent Linear service provider, not a factory-authorized dealer, which means we recommend the right fix for the gate you already own rather than steering you toward a replacement you don’t need.

Call (424) 388-2906

If you own a home in Agoura Hills and your Linear gate operator is dead, grinding, or refusing to close, call (424) 388-2906. A live person answers, day or night, and we’ll tell you what to expect before we ever roll a truck.

How Linear Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

Linear has been building residential gate operators for decades, and certain models show up over and over on Agoura Hills driveways. The failures we see aren’t mysteries. They’re consistent, and they’re fixable.

  • Linear LDO series (LDO50, LDO33) - limit switch drift. These are the classic slide-gate operators we find on older Agoura Hills properties along Chesebro Road and up toward Old Agoura. The mechanical limit switches wear down gradually, and the gate starts stopping a few inches short of full open or slamming harder than it should at the end of travel. We mark the current limit positions, photograph them, reset the cams, and record the new positions with a photo log so the next adjustment starts from a known baseline. This is one of the most common Linear-specific issues we see, and it’s almost always repairable without replacing the operator.
  • Linear APeX and ADC series - control board failure after power surges. Agoura Hills gets dry lightning in late summer and transformer failures during heat waves. The control boards on these newer Linear models are sensitive to voltage spikes, and we’ve replaced enough of them to recognize the failure immediately: the gate goes completely dead, no LED indicators, no response from the remote, but the motor still tests fine. We recommend installing a surge suppressor at the panel if you’re on the hilly corridors where power blips happen more frequently.
  • Linear M3 and MegaCode receivers - remote range dropping to a few feet. This is a Linear quirk we see constantly. The MegaCode receiver antenna is a simple wire that gets knocked loose or pushed against the metal housing during a previous repair, and suddenly the remote only works from inside the car, two feet from the gate. The fix is usually a repositioned antenna and a re-secured connection, not a new receiver. We test range from the street before and after, and we log the results.
  • Linear HAE and LRA linear actuators - gear stripping on swing gates with wind load. These are the actuator arms used on Linear swing-gate systems, and in Agoura Hills the afternoon wind coming through the canyons puts real stress on them. When the internal gears strip, the arm moves but the gate doesn’t, or the arm makes a grinding sound and stops mid-swing. We open the actuator, document the gear condition with photos, and replace the worn set with OEM or equivalent-grade aftermarket parts. The photo record matters here because stripped gears in an actuator can be misdiagnosed as a bad motor.
  • Linear control wiring - corroded low-voltage connections. Coastal-adjacent air and morning fog in low-lying parts of Agoura Hills accelerate corrosion on exposed low-voltage wiring. We routinely find green, powdery connections at the photo-eye terminals and keypad splices. The symptom is intermittent operation: the gate works, then doesn’t, then works again. We cut back corroded wire, land fresh connections, seal the splices properly, and photograph the before and after. It’s simple work, but it prevents the intermittent failures that make people replace perfectly good operators.

Our Linear Gate Installation Process

Our Linear Gate Installation Process

Here’s what a Linear gate installation with us actually looks like, start to finish, without the vague promises.

  1. 1
You call, a person answers. We talk through what the gate is doing, what model Linear you have if you know it, and what we think we’re walking into. We set a window, and we give you the technician’s name.
  2. 2
On-site diagnosis. The technician arrives, tests the operator, the power supply, the limit settings, the safety devices, and the mechanical condition of the gate itself. If the gate’s hinges are binding or the track is out of alignment, a new Linear operator won’t solve anything, and we’ll tell you that. We write down what we found, and we photograph it.
  3. 3
Written scope and price. Before any work begins, you get a written description of the problem and a flat price for the repair or installation. That’s Haven Standard Clause 1: have it in writing. No surprises when the invoice comes.
  4. 4
The work. We decide with you whether OEM Linear parts or quality aftermarket equivalents make sense for your budget and your warranty situation. For newer operators still under manufacturer warranty, OEM is usually the right call. For a 12-year-old LDO50, an aftermarket limit switch kit from a reputable supplier often does the job at a lower price, and we’ll show you the part number before we install it.
  5. 5
Testing and documentation. The gate runs through full cycles. We check force settings, safety edge response, photo-eye alignment, and remote range. Before we leave, you get a written summary of everything found, everything changed, and every part number installed, plus a photo log of the work. Name what you found. Name what it costs. Name what you left behind. That’s the whole job.
  6. 6
The guarantee. Every installation and repair we do is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If something isn’t right within a year, we come back and make it right at no charge. No argument, no fee, no expiration date inside that window.

What Linear Gate Installation Costs in Agoura Hills

Linear gate work in Agoura Hills is priced by the job, not the hour, and the price is fixed before we touch a tool. Here’s what we typically see:

Job Typical Price Range
Linear control board replacement (APeX, ADC series) $340 - $620
Linear limit switch adjustment or replacement $140 - $280
Linear remote receiver repair / antenna fix $120 - $240
Linear swing-gate actuator replacement (HAE, LRA) $680 - $1,250
Full Linear slide-gate operator installation, new $1,850 - $3,400
Full Linear swing-gate operator installation, new $2,200 - $4,100

What moves the price: the weight and condition of your existing gate, whether the steel posts are sound, how far the power is from the operator location, and whether your safety edges and photo-eyes still meet current code. We include all of that in the written estimate, free of charge. Call (424) 388-2906 and we’ll put it in writing before anything else happens.

Why Agoura Hills Homeowners Call Vance Gate Repair Agoura Hills for Linear Work

We carry the 365-Day Done Right Promise on every Linear job, and we mean it without fine print. Most places in Agoura Hills will give you a verbal number over the phone and an invoice that says something different at the end. We hand you the price in writing before any work starts, and that price doesn’t move. That’s how Adrian Vance has run things since 2014, when he brought his commercial access-control experience to residential driveways in this area.

We also work on all the other major brands you’ll find on Agoura Hills gates: LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, Ghost Controls, and DoorKing. If your Linear operator is beyond repair and a different brand makes more sense for your setup, we’ll tell you that too, with numbers, not opinions. We’d rather keep your gate working than win an argument about whose logo is on the motor.
